Grace Chung: Organist

You don't get to hear the pipe organ very often these days. It truly is becoming a rare treat to hear a piece on the pipe organ... unless you are a student at St. Mark's Episcopal School in ALtadena, CA or a congregant of the Lake Avenue Congregational Church in Pasadena, CA. If you are either one of those, you would have the privilege of hearing Grace Chung play the organ on a regular basis.

And it really is a treat:

Grace will join the line-up of amazing talents on Friday, July 29th at the Walt Disney Concert Hall for our 15th Annual Benefit Concert. Tickets are available here.

Meet the Musicians: Cellist Joon Sung Jun & Violinist Lorenz Gamma

At this year's 15th Annual Benefit Concert, KYCC has the honor of hosting two acclaimed musicians.

Both Joon Sung Jun and Lorenz Gamma are internationally recognized for their talent and passion for music. Individually, they spent years traveling, performing and teaching all over the world just to share the beauty of their craft.

Joon Sung Jun has played with numerous orchestras and collaborated with some of the industry's biggest names. He is the founder of Amici Concert Artists - a nonprofit concert management organization, board member of Peninsula Symphony and faculty member of California State University, Long Beach.

In addition to his experience traveling all over Europe with a quartet, Lorenz Gamma has performed solo concertos by some of the most renowned composers (i.e., Bach, Beethoven, Berg, Brahms, Bruch, Gubaidulina, Lutoslawski, Mozart, Mendelssohn, Piazzolla, Rubinstein, Schumann, Spohr, Tartini, Vivaldi, Wieniawski... just to name a few). He is professor of violin at California State University Northridge and has previously taught at UCLA, the California Institute of the Arts, Indiana University in Bloomington and UC Santa Barbara.

They are seen gathering supplies and traveling to various cities where natural disasters have wreaked havoc; presenting personally sewn newborn gowns and blankets at the Hollywood Presbyterian Hospital and Good Samaritan Hospital; providing counseling and referrals in cases of legal issues, domestic violence, consumer rights, etc.; providing employment aid and referrals; and providing seminars and workshops that are aimed at strengthening a sense of community by and through empowered women.

We are so excited for this partnership and look forward to working together with these amazing ladies!
